The follow-up to last year’s hit cop comedy has now been officially confirmed by 20th Century Fox. Shooting is due to begin this autumn, almost a year later than had been initially predicted.
The new film will see Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum reprise their roles as hapless cops Schmidt and Jenko, who are sent undercover to a US high school.
Dave Franco is also expected to return as high school drug dealer Eric Molson. Hill will once again write the script with Michael Bacall. It has yet to be confirmed whether joint directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be back for the sequel.
21 Jump Street was one of the surprise hits of last year. The screwball comedy was based on the 1980s TV series which shot Johnny Depp to fame. It received five nominations at the MTV Movie Awards and grossed over $200 million (£13 million) worldwide.
