Actor Dave Franco stars in the upcoming film “Warm Bodies,” based on the bestselling book of the same name. “Warm Bodies” tells the intricate and unusual love story of R, a zombie and Julie, a human during a zombie apocalypse. We had a chance to ask Franco a couple of questions about his role in “Warm Bodies.” Here’s what he had to say:
Tell us about your character Perry Calvin in “Warm Bodies”.
Perry starts out as this innocent love-struck kid. He’s living through a zombie apocalypse but he’s able to cope because he’s madly in love with his girlfriend Julie, played by Teresa Palmer. Throughout the film we see Perry experience some pretty traumatic things. For example he witnesses his father die and it changes him. He goes from being an innocent kid to a man who is hell-bent on ending the zombie apocalypse. Perry seeks revenge and retribution for his father’s death and through this his relationship with Julie becomes strained.
Did things get bloody for you on “Warm Bodies”?
On this one, no, I play a human the whole time. It would’ve been fun to go through the works and get zombified. When I did “Friday Night” I remember going through the make-up for a few days. They put lenses in my eyes that were the size of a quarter. It’s not as glamorous as it looks on the screen.
What do you do between projects?
When I’m not doing a movie I try to create my own projects. I work with some of my best friends doing shorts for Funny or Die. It’s great because if you have a successful video on that site it has the potential to be seen by more people than an independent movie. It’s nice because we have full creative control over the details so the product we put out is an accurate representation of my humor, as twisted as that may be, and I’m really proud of it.
